Battlefield 4 is officially banned in China. The government base this first-person shooter ban in threats to country’s national security. China’s Ministry of Culture prohibits all material related to the Battlefield 4 game in any for. This includes downloading game, demos, patches, and even news reports. They want a game to literary vanish from China.
The cause to all this is actually Battlefield 4 DLC called China Rising which features a fictional war. The story starts with Admiral Chang and his plans to overthrow the China’s government. He is supported by Russia although it inevitably leads to war between the United States and China.
China Military, a state-run newspaper previously wrote how Battlefield 4 “smears China’s image” and wants to invade culturally. The fact that the newspaper is run by state says enough. The game was released in October, though it has never been officially launched in China and now it’s officially banned in that same country.
Problems with Battlefield 4 are just piling up. Numerous bugs, server issues, and glitches made Battlefield 4 barely playable. Electronic Arts promised there will be no more expansions until current issues have been resolved.
Merely a week ago, investors filed a class action lawsuit against EA for allegedly issuing “materially false and misleading statements highlighting the purported strength”. The lawsuit accused EA of violating the Security Exchange Act 1934 and for making the statements to artificially inflate its stock price.
Like that didn't give EA enough to worry about so now their latest and highly anticipated game has been banned in China. Gamers’ opinions are divided, some say military shooters are always trying to tell you who to hate, while others are trying to defend the game stating that video games are fictional.
Video games are getting blamed for violence once again. The fact is that no video game will turn a player into a vile human being if they aren't of that kind already. World War I and World War II took place when video games were non-existent, not to mention other historical conquers.
While gamers are trying to argue their stand, EA has to stand in court and even face scandals such as Battlefield 4 being banned. It was the most anticipated shooter of 2013 and we can see that game hasn't been received well.
