You being the game in an abandoned city of Prinlock. The room has a radio which gives you a message, stating what to do in the first mission. Kill 5 of one alien species and 3 of the other. The only weapon you have are your hands.
Evacuation took place as soon as these nasty creatures started appearing, though by the look of things some humans weren’t able to escape. As you start walking on the street, headless bodies and burnt vehicles can be seen everywhere. Follow the street lights and pretty soon first creature will appear. Weird and ugly one, and you have to use your fist to defeat it. There was no big challenge in killing the first creature.
After that first creature, every new one had a tendency to sneak upon me. The only way to find them was to follow that creepy sound which made me jump every time. Turning the sound off was not an option as that was the only way to get them. That green one attacked me once, my screen turned red and I died few moments later. Being one step ahead is the only way to survive.
The first few levels of the Dimensional rift featured two types of aliens. One was something like the weird looking spider, while the other was just big, green and really ugly. The latter one can do more damage with its giant arms and claws. Seeing dead bodies on the street will give you an idea what it is capable off.
Graphics look good. The game has been built upon Unity Engine and shows its potential. As you start walking around, everything is covered in dark except the main road with street lights. You will find all the aliens here, get ready for the creeps. They bleed green of course and make creepy sounds. Sounds have been done in a right way. It all fits the horror setting of a game.
The game is in Alpha stage, therefor I expected few bugs. It was actually very much playable for the Alpha. One major issues was that mouse pointer kept scrolling screen too fast. For example, in the tutorial when it asks to pause and resume game.
Dimensional Rift is being developed by the AlphandOmega Productions. An independent studio of four guys who released the demo of the game in an attempt to raise additional funds. You can find more information on the AlphandOmega Productions website.
