We could say that Timeframe is more like a sightseeing video than a game, though you get to experience that tour and the end of it all. Time has been slowed down, unlike most games we played, and that’s the beauty of Timeframe. Ten seconds span through ten minutes, allowing players to appreciate the gorgeous world of Timeframe. Although even 10 minutes might not be enough to explore full map.
Set in a vast dessert, the scenery is full of wonders and remnants of what clearly used to be a glorious civilization. Distant bridge, temple and ruined monuments can be seen scattered around the world, and you will just want to reach them all. Unfortunately the gameplay is limited and you will most likely find yourself walking to a next destination when the impact destroys it all. The meteor is falling down slowly, you can see it up in the sky after few minutes into a game, and there is no way to avoid the end. Timeframe sends a message by its simplicity and inevitable end.
What if we really had 10 seconds before everything came to an end? The end of the World was supposed to happen several times in my lifetime, but what if there was a meteor falling down to Earth, and you knew everything would be destroyed? You cannot do anything within 10 seconds and that is not enough time to even comprehend what’s going on. Due to time being slowed down in a game, you can appreciate the world, you wouldn’t be able to do that in real life though.
Although you might start a game seeking for an objective, like every other game asks you to, in Timeframe there is only one thing to do and that is to take it all in. Admire the beauty of world and its nature, appreciate every moment and just learn to live a life that way. Find joy in small things, slow down and appreciate the life itself.
Visually, Timeframe is not too realistic, though the art-style is still beautiful. You will come across carvings lit by the sun, for instance, and it will have you admire the work developers created.
