RPG is mostly associated with goblins, dragons, aliens, and other unreal beings. This is not bad at all for a game concept, but Kingdom Come: Deliverance will offer a completely new concept for a video game.
This title will be based on historical events that occurred during Roman Empire, set in an open-world with real places and landscapes that were modelled on satellite maps. By using CryEngine 3, developers are bringing this awesome features to video game.
You will take a role of Krutor, a barbarian from the land of Morkroch who has travelled far to reach the imperial city of Lhota. The capitol of the world whose glory reaches the stars. Fifteen buildings are built in the Lhota with one of them is the imperial palace. All important NPCs can be found in the city including Archmage Lotrando, Emperor Lojza, and members of various guilds.
Emperor assigns you a quest to defeat an evil dragon that is giving grief to the land. Ok, so there will be one unreal creature in a game after all, although the world looks painfully realistic. An imperial army has been defeated by this dragon so you are the hero who will save the world.
The dragon resided on the mystical mountain Lohen, no human has ever been there. Maybe humans never set a foot on a mystical mountains, but the fact is dwarves and one hobbit were there before. This part of a story resembles the Hobbit a little too much. Kingdom Come: Deliverance is still a promising game though. Whistling the Misty Mountain as an ambient effect.
So you have accepted a task of beheading a dragon, not that you had any choice if you wanted to play a game, and your path leads you to a mountain that is about 50 metres high. All citizens of the city including those 30 important NPCs in the city, must be crippled, blind, or lacking their wits if they haven’t noticed the mountain so far.
Warhorse Studio, the creator, said that game will feature a non-linear story and a revolutionary first-person melee combat. Players will immerse into an accurate fighting techniques, open-field sieges, horseback combat, and large scale-battles. So this part is typical for RPG game as well as the part where we will be asked to develop relationships and reputation.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance sounds like a game you would want to keep an eye on if you’re into RPG. It has been scheduled for PC and next-gen consoles for 2015.
Warhorse was founded in 2011 by Dan Varva who created Mafia 1 and 2 games, and Martin Klima who previously worked on games like UFO and Original War. The new independent studio is based in Prague, Cezch Republic and in two years several other video game industry have joined their team.
