Sochi 2014 Olympic Games Resort is a Facebook game with focus on resource management. It is not a bad game, but the setting is all wrong as Winter Olympics resort should be covered in snow.
Don't forget to like us on FACEBOOK, thanks so much!
The small resort by the sea go to be the next host of the Olympic Winter Games. As a mayor, it is your goal to make the most out of the time and resource management in this simulation game. As with most other Facebook games, Sochi 2014 Olympic Game Resort starts with a simple tutorial and introduction. After that you are given tasks to complete.
First task involved clicking on the Private Residence and to collect revenue. Although as you progress, tasks become more complex and require more time to complete. Once the task has been completed you will be rewarded with coins and XP. Though, unlike all the Ville games, Sochi 2014 has some new features. One of these is called Contracts which ads resources to your little sunny town. Oh, some tasks actually give cash as well, another thing that Ville games don’t offer. Maybe this was just the one off prize while playing the tutorial. Just to show us that we can spend real money to speed up things and buy unique items later.
You have to attract new tourists, tourism is a huge business after all. Even though it is hard to imagine a sunny resort in Russia. Build the Harbor Station to attract travellers from around the world. Winter Olympics is one huge event and will surely help to spark up the tourism in your nice resort with a sandy beach. Tourists like boat trips, they will drop useful materials once you set them off. The materials can be exchanged for construction resources. See it requires a lot of management and making tourists happy.
Each building in Sochi 2014 uses electricity and harms the environment. For example my Shopping Mall uses 10 electricity and has impact on ecology by 10. I am all for saving the nature, but this is a shopping centre and no girl can live without it. I am going to make that excuse every time new shopping building has been finished. Guilty conscience can be cured with a shopping spree. Besides, all people who went to watch Winter Olympics will visit shops and treat themselves to few presents. Mine is only virtual so no real harm done.
Building new things consumes space, luckily we can expand our virtual Sochi 2014 by buying new regions. OK, we get 5 Cash every time we level up, which is cool. More cash means less waiting. Spending enough time in game also gives rewards. It hasn’t been done in the best way, as 1 hour gives you 5 Cash while 8 hours gives only 10. Still, a refreshing feature in a Facebook game.
You can trade with vehicles such as cars and delivery vans. Give them an item and they will return a favour. Most of the time you will get a Wire Mesh Roll which is used in construction of various buildings.
Gameplay is simple, complete tasks, build stuff and interact with different game objects. Being a simulation game, Sochi 2014 made sure players have something to do while in game. Starting with enough coins and cash makes it easy to level up fast, at least at lower levels. Don’t forget to collect income from residential buildings.
Graphics are fine, but I cannot figure out what a sunny seaside resort has to do with Winter Olympic Games in Sochi. If they made a skiing resort instead, it would have been more realistic. All the fun we could have had by building a true Olympic Village and then seeing people trying to learn skiing would have been a lot more enjoyable. I like to watch skiing on TV, while being in warm and not risking injuries. It was a big surprise to see a sunny town when the game opened. I expected some village covered in snow, since it is an official social game of Winter Olympics 2014.
Audio is filled with noisy sounds that you can expect to hear while staying in a tourist resort. Nothing spectacular, except the sound of waves which always makes me relaxed. Beeping sound on the other hand does not add to a relaxing mood. Would be good if we were able to choose which sounds to turn off.
Overall, Sochi 2014 Olympic Games Resort is worth a try. With enough fun activities and enough friends who are willing to play this game, you could actually grow into it in a day or two. There are not enough players at the moment, though I expect the popularity will grow when Olympic Games kick off. Until then, some blueprints required for buildings and territories will remain unavailable. Social game requires social interaction. With Facebook we all know what that means, inviting friends to play and asking them to send us stuff. If you like Facebook social games, Sochi 2014 is definitely worth a try. Even though it won’t give you the feeling of Winter Olympic Games.
