Spud and his friend Prince Charming have to go on the journey to uncover ancient stones with powers that could remove the evil course. Prince Charming has been cursed by a wizard who turned him into a frog. His parents have been turned as well, the whole royal family is under the curse. Spud went to Merlin for help and found out about four temples and the elements that have to be collected in order to lift this evil magic.
The game has been inspired by titles such as Zelda and Dizzy that were legendary back in the days. Adventure games filled with locations and characters to spark player’s imagination, with puzzles that required good thinking and often ended with frustration. Challenging gameplay we all got addicted to when we were kids.
Spud’s Quest gameplay is similar to that of the Dizzy, a flip screen adventure where you use items in order to progress to the next screen. For example, hatchet has to be used to form a bridge over a swamp, but the item has to be found first. It is almost like a point-and-click type just without much of pointing and clicking. There are power-ups and abilities which differ this title from a classis p’n’c style.
Spud’s Quest Key Features
- Five brain challenging temples/dungeons.
- Rich Fantasy world full of puzzles and quests.
- Power-ups styled after those seen in the Metroid game.
- Local battle arena mode with up to 4 players.
Chris Davis is an indie developer looking to get the Spud added to the Steam store. Spread the news and lend it your vote if you like a retro styled adventure games. It costs nothing, but would help Chris a lot to see his game available to the public.
