In just over two week, Star Citizen raised more than $1 million. What started as a Kickstarter project, proved to be a highly wanted video game, and it will be released for PC. New space simulation that everyone is eager to start playing, has raised $40 million up to date, which means several features will be added to the original project.
“We’ve done it again! The Star Citizen community has pushed us to another incredible crowd funding goal: $40 million, a number that would have been an impossible dream at the start of the game’s development. I’m constantly amazed by the continued support we receive and how this community manages to grow every day. Since the last milestone we’ve added over 10,000 new citizens! Some say that space sims are niche. I’m not so sure!” Chris Roberts wrote on in a blog post.
The last backer-voted star systems will be included, and there is a little surprise within new features. The company decided to include two systems, Kabal and Oretani Systems. The next milestone is set to $42 million and according to Chris it is a reference to Douglas Adam’s Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Everyone know that 42 is an answer to “The Life, Universe and Everything”. The reboot of an old text-adventure Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” has been released few days ago.
What $42 million stretch goal will bring, is Star Citizen’s equivalent of “The Hitchhiker’s Guide”, the Observist section within Star Citizen’s Galactapedia. The new feature will integrate into the game universe and will respond in a real time. It will be a different kind of a wiki for sure, but nothing about Star Citizen is ordinary. The goal is to implement news on player’s progress. For instance, if a player charts a new Jump Point it will be memorized in Galactapedia for all time.
Along with the Observist, once the game reaches $42 million, Explorer-class mobiGlas Rig and Gladius will become a part of it. With every new feature and art-work that RSI shows us, we are sure that Star Citizen Won’t Fail.
