Star Citizen has raised over $27m from crowd-funding and that of course brings up a lot of questions, such as “what if Star Citizen fails”, or statements like “Star Citizen won’t live up to expectations”.
One of the reasons why we are positive about Star Citizen’s success is that Chris Roberts is a man behind it all. The same man responsible for Wing Commander series. Roberts posted a response to recent concerns about game being “dumbed down” for release on console.
“Star Citizen IS a PC game. It will NEVER be dumbed down for a lesser platform. We will NOT limit the input options or supported peripherals to the lowest common denominator. We will NOT pass on features and technology just because they will only run on some hardware configurations.” Said Roberts in a response to the latest concerns.
Another big reason why Star Citizen won’t fail is that it is produced like PC games had been in old days, but using modern technology to deliver great graphics, awesome and complex ships’ structure, incredible space physics and multiplayer features. Back in days, games had a good story and gameplay, and this is what we’re getting with Star Citizen.
Also, they have adopted direct approach, they liste to users wishes and complaint and adjust game features accordingly. This is the biggest reason why some other games are failing.
The only reason why some might find Star Citizen to fail is their own expectations about the game. The fact is that Star Citizen is a video game, and as such it cannot fulfill your wildest dreams. Game’s goals are realistic and developers have delivered everything they promised so far.
